
Makes 18-20 pieces
Ingredients
* 1 cup rolled oats
* 1 cup plain flour, sifted
* 1/2 cup self-raising flour, sifted
* 2/3 cup brown sugar
* 3/4 cup desiccated coconut
* 1/3 cup sultanas
* 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
* 125g butter, chopped
* 1/4 cup golden syrup
* 1 egg, lightly whisked

Icing
* 1 1/2 cups icing mixture
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
* 1 teaspoon finely grated orange rind
* 1 to 2 tablespoons orange juice
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease and line a 18 x 28cm base slab pan.
2. Combine oats, flours, sugar, coconut, sultanas and cardamom in a large bowl.
3. Place butter and golden syrup into a small saucepan. Stir over medium-low heat until melted. Stir butter mixture and egg into oat mixture and mix until well-combined. Spread into prepared pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Allow to cool completely before icing.
4. To make icing: Place icing mixture, cardamom and orange rind into a medium bowl. Gradually add orange juice until mixture is smooth and spreadable. Spread icing over slice. Put aside to set before cutting.
